SaviSeeds and Green...s

So today's post is going to be pretty short but I though I'd just mention a few things going on in my life right now.

First off, I have discovered a new love..or at least a like. They are called SaviSeeds amd they basically taste and look like nuts, but they're seeds. The difference is that they have a lot more omega-3 in them and are just all around better for you. SaviSeeds are actually 'Sacha Inchi' seeds and they come in three flavours (so far). Ranking them in order of most liked to least liked would be: Karmalized (Caramel-covered. Kind of like beer nuts), Oh Natural (Natural with a bit of sea salt), and then Cocoa Kissed (Dark chocolate covered). Normally I would say the chocolate ones are my favourite because i love chocolate covered anything. The only thing with these is that the dark chocolate combined with the already not sweetness of the seeds, just makes it a bit too bitter. Needless to say they are all still amazing. You can get them in a 5oz pouch (Like me) or in a 1oz snack pack. Luckily for me I got two of them at the GreenLiving show in Toronto (which I will talk about later), and theyw ere onsale for $7 a 5oz pouch, or $10 for two 5oz pouches. Crazy right!? I almost didn't believe them! If you want to try them out check out their website here.

Speaking of organic things, this weekend was the annual GreenLiving Show in Toronto which showcases environmentally-friendly and fair-trade businesses and just plain people. It was set up at the Direct Energy Centre at the Exhibition Place and was host to hundreds of vendors. From Me-to-We merch to composting toilets, you could find anything and everything green here. Luckily I went on the Saturday which was so not coincidentally the day that the inaugural Canadian Environmental Media Awards (CEMA's) were held. They were co-hosted by Canadian actress Rachelle LeFevre (Off the Map, Twilight) a huge favourite of mine. Before I start talking too much about it I'm going to stop now and just say it was a lot of fun. Actually I was able to get a free ticket by bringing in an old electronic to recycle, pretty cool eh?

Anyways if you want to learn more about the GreenLiving show, visit their site here
There isn't yet a site for the Canadian EMA's but check out the American's here

My Paolo

Paolo Nutini. Montreal. No relation? For me there is.

When I visited my brother, who is studying at McGill, in Montreal, me, my mother, and my sister, would walk down the streets and marvel at the serenity. It was November 2010, we were there for me and Katie's birthday (we're twins btw), and it was my first time seeing my brother's apartment (let alone my first time  in Montreal!). I have to say I have great memories of this amazing city. Now how does Paolo Nutini fit into this? Well during the trip, whenever I had spare time, in went my headphones and who would I listen to but Paolo Nutini (also James Morrison among others). You could say I was in a phase. It happens a lot.

Right now, you could say I was in a Glee/Darren Criss/AVPM/AVPS phase. I know it sounds big, but it's technically just a Darren Criss phase with other songs mixed in.

Some people think it's annoying but it is how i roll.

I don't know exactly why this is the post I am writing. But, I just listened to 'Someone Like You' by Adele and in parts of the song her voice kind of reminded me of Paolo Nutini, and hence the Paolo flashback nostalgia moment. Seriously after a phase I will get really tired of a certain artist or album so after my Paolo phase, whenever I clicked on one of his songs I quickly changed it, somehow it just wasn't good anymore. Now that doesn't mean I hate it forever, I just can't listen to it for a while. I know it sounds silly, but I'm sure I'm not the only one out there who does it.

Well that's all for THAT subject.

Moving on. I am drinking coffee at 9:30pm (A breakfast blend no less) and that's probably not smart seeing as I have a fish dissection and an in-class Graphing Calculator assignment tomorrow (really fun btw Idkw), but I'll deal with the consequences later. It's even sadder seeing as just four hours ago I had coffee with my mom, and I'm using the same takeout cup to brew this cup.

Talking about coffee w/ my mom reminds me of an embarrassing moment that happened to me today. At school, during Morning Announcements I heard the announcement for our school's art show opening, I immediately texted my mom to ask if she wanted to go, seeing as we always do these artsy things together. We drove after school to the gallery and we were a bit early so we sat and talked in her car. It got to 5:15 when I realized no one else had showed up. Boy did I feel like an idiot when I used my mom's smartphone to check the time and realized it was next Wednesday not this one. Maybe it wasn't that dumb, but nevertheless I will make sure I double check dates before I go anywhere!

Seeing as I've left the coffee machine alone, without actually making my coffee (It's a Tassimo T-Disk Barcode System) I should probably go do that.

Have fun wherever you are, and to all EST peeps, goodnight!

-Jenny

Psyllium Husks and Spring Cleaning

Piece of Advice: If you are going to mix Psyllium Husks in with your juice or water, drink it fast and in big gulps.

Listening to: Radioactive - Kings of Leon

Location: Couch (Eternally)

My stomach feels funny. And I'm f-ing exhausted. Who knew that cleaning would be so tiring?

Lime and Da Coconut

So I've just realized that staying up til 3 in the morning because you can't think of anything else to do is just not the best idea. Anyways, I'm just sitting here on my couch, drinkin' Diet Coke a la Lime and pondering life... actually I'm watching Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour and iJustine at the same time, but hey, I'm still drinkin' my Coke!
It's times like these when I don't wonder why my dad is constantly p.o'ed because I stay up too late. It's just not a good idea.
Other food items beside me include a lemon meringue yogurt, and a spoon.
Also the book 'Borderline' by Allan Stratton. I'm reading it as part of a Reading Program at my school, and it's not bad so far, it's about a kid who's father is a suspected terrorist. Pretty cool beans.
Speaking if beans, I am writing a play/musical/script about jellybeans. Actually it's based on a story I wrote in Grade 3 but I thought it was amazing so I decided just a couple days ago to transform it. It used to be called 'Jenny the Janitor and the Jumping Jellybeans' now it is called 'Jelly' and I know you are all so jelly of me for being this artsy.
Seeing as I don't have the guts to risk security and go to uni for acting or something else zany like that (I'm almost positive I'm going for science), I have decided to live vicariously through this blog, and my Youtube, and Twitter, and whatever other social network/talent spreader I happen to come across in the next few weeks/years.

Update on my life:
Not bad, I just saw the 'Off The Map' season finale, pretty whack. I love Tommy Fuller and Charlie as conformist as that is I don't care.

Anyway, my favourite song of the moment is 'Dress and Tie' by Charlene Kaye and Darren Criss, I totally just put it on right now. But anyways I'm gonna put it below so you can see how amazingly cool it is. I'm also loving some of Charlene's other songs and some stuff by Freelance Whales, one of the band members is coincidentally related to Darren Criss so that's pretty chills.

Since Criminal Minds : SB is waiting I thought I'd just end this now and be done with it. Expect a post soon, on whatever else is occ- awkward moment when the song you're listening to pauses to load and you lose your train of thought, too much silence- back to the point, whatever else is occurring in my life at the moment, you'll know.

Pretty Little Liars: A Follow-Me and Recap.

8 minutes and counting...
whenever i see the promo for the PLL premiere, i always think hanna is swearing when it beeps out A's name. how about you?

2 minutes and counting...
Declan from Degrassi is hot..Degrassi is too dramatic though.

And Action!
first off,A looks too fat to be mona

hanna going in on a stretcher...tense man tense
and mona acts surprised..you bitch
ooh noel...maybe he knows who A is...dramaaa

After first commercial break
emily's okay
awww lucas!!! my loveee
yay hanna's alright
geez a lot of damage! :(
its not toby!! i knew it all along.
where did lucas go? i want to seee more of him.

melissa is being nice? this is touching. im beginning to like melissa..eww ian is gross, i dont like him.
i like melissas hair . and if i could black out the camp mona i woulf defs keep that sweater

Hanna's awake!!!
doesnt hannas mom know that killing people is illegal
again a mention of lucas, my day just gets better.

oohh 'i see you' ezra is hotness. ian harding owns.

I love how emily's dad came back. and breakfast is broken.

noel!? thats not true!!! what's going on!!! mona has to be A
but it makes sense as to why A was big. Mona is too skinny..they better not have just changed it around. i will sue them.

After 2nd break.
tense, secrets coming out...ooh
its def not noel..better not be
he's lyinggg
i bet you mona got him to spy on aria, but mona hit hanna

i seriously love emily's dad!!! and her mom reminds me of my friends mom, looks-wise

sleeping hanna's lie...and have nightmares.
i bet its lucas
geez mona, you bitch.
you should feel guilty!!! i hate chu!
mona has a weird look on her face.
cuz evrybody needs to look good at the hospital! woww
hanna's got game.

coffay!!
i love aria's bed!

ooh who is it!!!
im saying lucas...
ahh!!! i love him, he and hanna need to get together
hes sooo cute!
he can kiss my forehead anytime! ;)

...ive decided you already know what im thinking, but overall
i absolutely love lucas, i think sean is nice, but lucas is the underdog, and i love underdogs. Like seriously all my guy friends except for like one, are slightly goofy geeky guys. I have a soft spot for them. Plus they are way nicer than other guys...sometimes.
I know A is Mona, it has to be. And i don't like Noel any more, not that i really every liked him that much.I can't believe Melissa got married, i'm a little hazy on the books, it's been a while since i read them. The fact that A wrote on Hanna's cast makes me sure it's Mona.
Overall...again...i'm super-excited for the next episode, and i hope i see more Lucas.
Who's your favourite PLL guy? your least favourite? and who do you think A is? (If you haven't read the books and don't already know)
I think Emily's parents were surprised that she was gay but i also think they will get over it because they realize it's who she is and they should love her anyway.

Til next time,
Jenny

The Edible Woman.Food For Thought.

I think the title is quite clever, I take pleasure in the small victories.

More to the point, I recently read The Edible Woman by Margaret Atwood for a school project, and i was delighted by it. I was wary of it, thinking that a book  by Margaret Atwood would be to deep to be entertaining. This book, however, was light enough to be entertaining but also had some deep and thoughtful parts that educated you well on the points of feminism and equality in the 60s in Canada, and essentially everywhere. Marian (the main character) finds herself losing control of herself, unable to eat food because she feels she is eating herself (hence 'the edible woman'). Turning rice into little cocoons, and sponge cake into little pairs of lungs. Her problems with eating also reference to problems with her boyfriend, Peter. She feels he is objectifying her. In Canada, at that time, woman didn't work as high up as men, and this is evident throughout the novel, especially when Marian describes the big wigs/exec's at her work being only men. Margaret Atwood brings up the subject of equality, and spearheads it. She is to the point, and it shows how we tend to conform to society whether it is right or not. For instance when her roommate, Ainsley, wants to get pregnant, without the obligation of a father, we realize how she is highlighting the undependability of men.

I think this book is a great study of feminism and the importance woman have in our society. Next time you think you are getting sick of society, realize it's better than it was a while ago, and, hopefully, it will only get better.
